Catherine Airey– Make a Wish Foundation

… The recent charity scandals in the Central Remedial Clinic and Rehab may well have contributed to a lack of public trust and a drop in the amount of donations made to charities across Ireland in recent months, but that hasn’t dampened one particular charity’s efforts in granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

Since its inception in 1992 the Make a Wish Foundation have granted over 1600 wishes in Ireland, granting 210 wishes last year alone.

10 year old Limerick native Orann Martin had hoped the Make A Wish charity could simply arrange for him to spend a few hours on a Navy patrol vessel.

But the charity, with the support of the Naval Service, decided to go one better for the youngster in light of his remarkable courage in dealing with the condition Burkets Lymphona.

Orann’s mum Catherine spoke to Wendy about how much the wish meant for Orann, as he embarks on another school year
